Built in 1980 by a custom home builder who built the house for his own family. The home was built with a lot of beautiful and substantial details. The ornate trim work, parquet floors, substantial wooden doors with ornate brass hardware. When the owners first came across it in 2022, they thought that it was definitely from the 1930s/1940s and was completely surprised to find out it was from the 80s, as it appears more historic with its southern colonial pillars and brick. The second owners lived here for almost 40 years and didn't do any renovations, so they had a big project ahead! |

Other than the original parquet floors in the living room and dining room, all the floors were replaced and all the surfaces were repainted. What was an unused sunken formal living room became the "family room." It is such a pretty room that they wanted to be in it everyday. Our goal was to make it dramatic and beautiful but still soft and inviting. |
The den became the "analog room" housing books, games, art projects for the kids, and records collection. Plus, it already has a secret wetbar which makes it a fun entertaining space as well. |

The entire kitchen, foyer, powder room, and laundry room on the first floor were completely replaced. The checkerboard floors are imported marble and the black and white English inspired kitchen is a classic neutral center for the rest of the colorful home. Design wise, it was important for us to use quality materials such as the real marble floors, custom locally made cabinetry, solid brass hardware from England, hand painted bone china light fixtures from England, and the Italian range to make sure the simple palette still stood out. |
The Dining room walls and trim were painted a classic colonial blue/green mood-ring color which ended up looking pretty good with the existing wallpaper which was kept in homage to the previous owners. |
The basement was used as another sitting area for the previous owners and it was a very dark, no frills space. With the young kids in mind, we decided to make this their dedicated playroom. It is now a fun and colorful space which extends into the mudroom and bathroom for that floor. |
The guest bathroom upstairs has been renovated to be a classic space with quality materials--including blue wall tile and marble basketweave floors. The boys' bedrooms feature blue and green painted trim for a little fun! |

From the Owners: "When we look at our home we see something that's a little southern, elegant, but also sassy. Loretta Lynn, one of our musical heroes, immediately came to mind. So, the house is lovingly called "The Loretta." We like to say that the house is a classy broad who knows how to let her hair down once in a while. She is sturdy, pretty, and timeless." |
